Jablonec to jedno z większych miast w Czechach (ok. 45.000 osób), leżące nad rzeką Nysą. Aż do XVIII wieku była to mała, niewiele znacząc wioska, do czasu, kiedy w okolicy zaczęły powstawać huty szkła. Dzięki hucie powstała tu również wytwórnia szklanej biżuterii, dzięki czemu miasto zasłynęło na całą Europę. W XIX w. miasto urosło i zabudowano je pięknymi kamienicami mieszczańskimi. W 1938 miasto dostało się w granice III Rzeszy i zasiedlono je Niemcami, którzy zostali wysiedleni lub wymordowani po 1945. Obecnie to miasto jest ośrodkiem sportu i turystyki, nadal produkuje się tu biżuterie i ciężarówki LIAZ.

Jablonec is one of the biggest cities in Czech Republic (ca. 45.000 inhabitants), lying over the banks of river Neisse. Till XVIII c. it was a small, unimportant village, but at that time the glassworks started their work in the town and surroundings. Due to the glasswork, they started the factory of glass jewelery, which made Jablonec famous all over Europe. In XIX c. the city grew bigger and richer and the beautiful houses were built. In 1938 the city was in borders of Third Reich and Germans were settled there, who were taken out or murdered in 1945. Right now Jablonec is a big sport and tourist centre, the glass jewelery is still produced here, along with LIAZ trucks.
