 Pod koniec XIX w. te tereny należały do rodziny Festetics, uprawiano tu przede wszystkim winogrona. W 1896 pierwszy zbiór był tak obfity, że wystawiono dziękczynny krzyż. Osadę nazwano Łaźnią Marii od imienia zony zarządcy - Marii Andrassy. Na pocz. XX w. zaczęto zakładać tu kąpieliska, przyjeżdżali tu artyści i znani ludzie z całych Austro-Węgier. Do tej pory miejscowość jest sporym ośrodkiem letniskowym.

 At the end of the XIX c. this area belonged to Festetics family, there were mostly vineyards here. In 1896 the harvest was so unexpectedly great, that the people granted a stone cross here to thank God for it. The settlement was called Mary's Bath (Máriafürdő) from the name of the local administrator - Maria Andrassy. In the beginning of the XX c. they started to set some baths here and it became popular among the artists and famous people in Austro-Hungary. Till this day the village is quite famous for its summer advantages.
