Szentendre, czyli Święty Andrzej to małe (ok. 20.000 mieszkańców), ale niezwykle urocze miasto nad Dunajem. Osada istniała tu już w czasach rzymskich jako Castra Constantia, ale pod znana nazwą Szentendre występuje od 1009, założone przez Madziarów. W XIV w. zaczęli osiedlać się tu Serbowie i to oni stanowili o słowiańskości miasta po zajęciu go przez Imperium Osmańskie. Jednak ludność tutaj była mieszanką z całej wschodniej Europy. Kiedy w 1888 Szentendre połączono koleją z Budapesztem, miasto stało się mekką dla artystów. Dziś jest to ośrodek przemysłowy i turystyczny.

Szentendre, means St. Andrew, is a small (about 20,000 inhabitants), but very charming city on the Danube. The settlement existed here since Roman times as Castra Constantia, but under the name of Szentendre is known since 1009, founded by the Magyars. In the XIV century the Serbs began to settle here  and they kept the city Slavic after the occupation of the Ottoman Empire. But here was a mixture of people from all over Eastern Europe. When Szentendre got a train connection with Budapest in 1888, the city became a Mecca for artists. Today it is an industrial and tourist center.
