Thame to nieduże miasto (11.000 mieszkańców) niedaleko od Oxfordu. Tutejsze opactwo powstało w 1138 w Królestwie Wessex, założone przez Cystersów. W czasach narodzin kościoła anglikańskiego kościół i klasztor zdemolowano. W czasie wojny domowej w 1640 miasto przechodziło z rąk do rąk - od rojalistów do parlamentarzystów.Po wojnie miasto się rozwijało, w XIX w. połączono Thame koleją z Oxfordem i Birmingham. Co ciekawe, w mieście kręcono popularny serial 'Midsomer Murders', mieszka tu lub w pobliżu wielu celebrytów i aktorów. 

Thame is a small city (population 11,000) not far from Oxford. The local abbey was founded in 1138 in the Kingdom of Wessex, founded by the Cistercians. At the time of the birth of the Church of England, the church and convent was demolished. During the Civil War in 1640 the city was passed from hand to hand - from royalists to parliamentarists. After war, the city is developed in the XIX c. and it got connection with Oxford and Birmingham by train. Interestingly, in town they filmed the popular series 'Midsomer Murders', here many celebrities and actors live.

OBERAU

Oberau to niewielka bawarska miejscowość w pobliżu Garmich-Partenkirchen. Jeszcze w XIX w. było tu dosłownie kilka zagród, należących do klasztoru w pobliskim Ettal, ale w tym czasie zaczęła napływać tu bogata ludność. Oberau bogaciło się na sprzedaży materiałów budowlanych dla Monachium i Wiednia. Później eksploatowano również lasy i wykorzystywano rzeki do transportu. Dziś jest to siedziba gminy.  

Oberau is a small Bavarian town near Garmich-Partenkirchen. In the XIX c. there were literally a few yards belonging to the monastery in nearby Ettal, but at that time there began to flow in an extensive population. Oberau got rich on sales of building materials for Munich and Vienna. Later, they also exploited the forests and rivers used for transportation. Today it is the seat of the municipality.
